Meditation for coughs and fevers

You’re running a fever and coughing. You want to rest, but every time a cough brings you back, you remain in a loop of constant suffering, never really able to fully rest.

If only you could just rest, that cough would go away. You just know it. But you can’t get there.

Well, next time this scenario plays you will be prepared. Because you’ll be using…

Deep relaxation meditation

Ever heard of those fancy 61point meditations, Yoga Nidra, Body Scan, etc? If yes, that’s what you’re gonna use.

For those who don’t know, it’s banally simple. You merely have to stay still and move your awareness across your body. Not too fast, not too slow. Just a pace that makes you feel relaxed. Just breathe normally, until it feels like the body breathes automatically.

Why are you bringing up this new-age crap, Alan?

No “new age” crap involved. Even though meditation could help reduce the chemicals your brain has to produce to make you feel miserable, and thus simply let the body do its job unimpeded, this is not even the case.

We’re simply gonna use the Body Scan meditation to speedrun deep relaxation.

That’s it.

But I need to sleep!

The act of losing consciousness is not a requirement to fully rest. You just need to rest your body and your brain.

Resting your body is easily done by staying still and entering deep relaxation.

Resting the mind is achieved by avoiding complex thoughts, which you can do by sliding your awareness across the body. This is also known as Yogic Sleep, Yoga Nidra. All fancy names, just to describe a simple thing.
For the record, getting the mind to simple repetitive tasks is also employed for lucid dreaming.

Does this really help in any way?

I’ve tested it multiple times. It’s the easy way to get quickly into a state of relaxation and thus stop the damn coughs.
I first attempted it during COVID-19, it worked well while I was laying on the bed feverish and coughing, and it worked again every other time after that.

You can use the the Mind Trick, to try to avoid sneezing during the process.

Sliding your awareness is just a good way to speed up relaxation. No exoteric shit involved. You don’t even need guided meditation. Just slide your awareness around in a loop.

It’s so damn simple that I can stop writing here. There’s no need for three pages essays or ten minutes videos for every little thing. Unlike what the Internet would have one believe.
